Prince Turki Al-Faisal denounces demonization of Saudi Arabia

The claim echoed what a Turkish official had earlier told the Washington Post ─ for which Khashoggi was a contributor ─ that authorities are investigating a theory the body was destroyed in acid.

Turkish prosecutors plan to seek the extradition of 18 suspects in the slaying of Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi so they can be prosecuted.

State Department spokesman Robert Palladino told reporters Washington will "hold accountable not only those who executed the murder, but also those who led, were involved and were connected to it".

While insisting the United States did not condone Khashoggi's killing, the top USA diplomat said the United States had "deep and long-term strategic relationships" with Saudi Arabia and "we intend to make sure that those relationships remain intact".

His body has not yet been found, but Turkey, the United States and Saudi Arabia have all agreed that he was killed at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on 2 October.

LONDON-A month after the killing of Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi, the Trump administration has made a decision to stand by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, having concluded that he is nearly certain to retain his grip on power despite a growing worldwide consensus that he bears responsibility for the killing, officials familiar with the deliberations said.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman told the U.S. he considered murdered writer Jamal Khashoggi to be a risky Islamist, media reports say.

The Saudis have given a shifting account of what happened to Khashoggi on October 2. Turkey maintains that Saudi officials have information on those responsible for the murder and the whereabouts of Khashoggi's remains.

Germany and Switzerland have vowed to halt arms sales to Saudi Arabia until the case is clarified.

Prince Mohammed also reportedly urged the White House to preserve the US-Saudi alliance.

President Trump has said he is "not satisfied" with the Saudi account.

Khashoggi's family rejected the characterization in a statement to the newspaper.

The body of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was dismembered after he was strangled as soon as he entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, the chief prosecutor's office in Istanbul said Wednesday.

The US-Saudi relationship "is too big to fail", Prince Turki said.

Khashoggi, a 59-year-old columnist for The Washington Post, vanished on October 2 after entering the consulate in Istanbul to pick up paperwork for his upcoming marriage to his fiancée, who was waiting for him outside.

USA to revoke 21 Saudi visas over Khashoggi's death
Saudi officials are now claiming that the murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi was premeditated. Erdogan refused to accept Saudi Arabia's explanation that the Saudi journalist was accidentally killed.

"Jamal Khashoggi was not a unsafe person in any way possible". A critic of the Saudi royal family, Khashoggi had been living in exile in the United States.
