Erdogan urges Russia, Iran to stop 'disaster' in Idlib

Turkey deploys military vehicles to Syria

According to US officials who have cited intelligence reports, Syrian President Bashar al Assad has approved the use of chlorine gas in the upcoming military operations in Idlib, The Wall Street Journal reported September 9.

He said that the United Nations had plans to reach up to 800,000 people who might be displaced, and were bracing for around 100,000 people to move into government-held areas and some 700,000 to initially flee within Idlib.

An AFP correspondent in Idlib has seen dozens of displaced families head towards the frontier in recent days to escape bombing elsewhere.

The Russian military said the footage would include scenes of White Helmets operatives treating supposed victims of an apparent barrel bomb chemical weapon attack by Damascus.

"I have 30 sheep". "It was noted that the situation there is really hard and every effort is needed to spare civilians from suffering", he stressed.

A new offensive on Idlib would likely uproot 800,000 people, the United Nations warned, causing major problems for relief agencies.

Over 1 million people evacuated from coast as Hurricane Florence bears down
United States airlines are allowing passengers to change their travel plans as Hurricane Florence threatens the east coast. President Donald Trump exhorted residents to follow officials' instructions. "This is a multi-day event", Heden said.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday called on Russian Federation and Iran to halt a looming "humanitarian disaster" in Idlib, saying Syrians there could not be left to the mercy of President Bashar Assad.

The West has warned Assad that his regime would face serious consequences if he used chemical weapons in Idlib.

Idlib is estimated to be now home to about three million civilians, including one million children, many of whom have already fled fighting elsewhere in Syria, or have been evacuated there under resettlement deals, as well as tens of thousands of fighters.

On Monday, its humanitarian chief made an urgent appeal.

A Syrian regime offensive on the opposition province of Idlib could lead to the 21st century's worst loss of life.

A further complicating factor for Turkish aid agencies is that many civilians themselves are now carrying arms for protection, making it harder to distinguish them from fighters.

"The latest escalation is again impacting civilians in a dramatic way".

At least two hospitals and two centres running rescue operations for wounded people were put out of service by shelling and air strikes, according to the Britain-based Observatory and the Union of Medical Care and Relief Organisations, which backs medical centres in Syria.

The call comes as Russia, Iran and the Assad regime increase military operations in Idlib amid fears of a humanitarian catastrophe there.

However Russia's Syria envoy said on Tuesday it would be up to Turkey to separate terrorist elements from the moderate opposition.

Russian officials have accused rebels of staging chemical attacks in the past in areas that government forces had been preparing to retake.
