Iran imports plane parts before USA sanctions kick in

China rejects US demand to reduce Iran oil imports: report

Sporadic protests were taking place in cities in Iran for a fourth day, with demonstrators attacking a Shi'ite seminary west of Tehran, according to Iranian news agencies and social media on Saturday, as Iranians brace for a return of United States sanctions.

Videos on social media in recent days have shown people marching in the streets of several cities, chanting radical slogans.

The US is now also pushing Pyongyang to scrap its nuclear capabilities after President Donald Trump and North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un agreed a vague commitment to "denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula" at their landmark summit in June.

Iran will not sit down for negotiations under pressures, in particular with U.S. President Donald Trump who "has breached obligations", Iran's Foreign Ministry Bahram Qasemi said Saturday.

Vintage plane crash in Swiss Alps kills all 20 people on board
It was flying a group of 17 Swiss nationals and a three-member family from Austria on a sightseeing tour for the company JU-AIR. He said it had its full annual service during the winter, and "we know of no technical problems with this aircraft".

So far, social media reports suggest the current protests are far from the scale of the unrest seen in December and January, when at least 25 people were killed in demonstrations that spread to dozens of towns and cities.

Under such circumstances negotiations can not be held, he said, adding that the Iranian people will resist the pressures and will conquer finally.

In May, the United States pulled out of a 2015 deal between world powers and Tehran under which global sanctions on Iran were lifted in return for curbs on its nuclear programme.

Some sanctions will take effect from August 6 while others, notably on the petroleum sector, will take effect on Nov 4.

Chelsea poised to rebuff Real Madrid in Thibaut Courtois approach
The Daily Express reports that Chelsea have now weighed their options and saw reasons Courtois will not be departing this summer. That has led to criticism from some supporters that money is the major motivating factor - a notion rejected by Henrotay.

On Sunday Iran Air will take delivery of five ATR commercial aircraft from the French-Italian firm, slipping in under the wire before the sanctions return.

Repeating the pattern of past weeks, crude prices on Friday ended the week down by 0.4 percent for West Texas Intermediate and 1.5 percent for Brent, this time in reaction to China state oil major Sinopec cutting its purchases of USA product due to the trade spat between both countries.

Iran says the sanctions are endangering lives by blocking the sale of new planes and spare parts for its ageing fleets.

The rallies were small but highlighted widespread discontent with the collapse of the rial, which has lost two thirds of its value against the dollar in a year.

Swedish crown jewels stolen
Police have not yet made any arrests, with spokesman Thomas Agnevik telling reporters in Sweden: 'It's 1-0 to them right now. The Swedish royal family is said to be fuming after thieves made away with some of their most prized Crown Jewels.

"There is a massive loss of confidence in the financial system and the government's ability to control things and withstand sanctions".
