Samsung opens world's largest smartphone factory in India

Narendra Modi

Commuters on the Delhi Metro's Blue Line had Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South Korean President Moon Jae-in as fellow passengers on Monday.

In 1997, the plant started manufacturing televisions, and in 2003, expanded to manufacturing refrigerators.

The more than 500 Korean companies operating in India were mostly concentrating in the automobiles, electronics and textiles "but going forward, we will expand cooperation to various areas, including shipbuilding, medical devices and food processing", Moon said. He added the Samsung unit will export its products globally.

The company now has over 10 per cent of its overall production in India and aims to take it to 50 per cent over the next three years.

The 27-year-old first complained to the umpire about the bugs and following her first set defeat had the court sprayed. She was seeded second in 2017 but succumbed amid high expectations and crashed out in the second round that time.

According to a statement from Samsung, the factory will help almost double its output of mobile devices in India from 68 million units a year to a whopping 120 million units a year.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said the new manufacturing unit is a step towards making India a manufacturing hub. "Samsung's small and mid-sized suppliers can leverage the opportunity and create more jobs for Indians...2,000 new jobs will be generated in this plant", Mr Moon said, adding the Korean government will provide all necessary support in this journey. The mentioned plant will double the smartphone production. "India and Korea have a long-standing history of exchange, you are a friend who helped us in time of need". The factory is opening in India as the South Korean giant looks to take advantage of the fastest-growing mobile market.

India, the report said, was emerging as a key economic partner for Korea, with its huge market whose importance would only increase as South Korea tried to reduce its reliance in its two biggest trading partners, China and the US.

Moon said South Korea wished to participate in the Indian infrastructural projects, including the government's plan to build 100 smart cities and construct an industrial corridor linking the major cities.

Trump still pondering Supreme Court pick as big reveal nears
Trump has said he'll announce his selection Monday in a prime-time event from the White House East Room at 9 p.m. Bush to serve on the influential Washington-based appeals court in 2003.

"Samsung is a world leader in technology today".

The Indian mobile phone market grew by 48% YoY in the first quarter of 2018, driven by strong demand from the featurephone segment. A bigger manufacturing plant, spread over 129000 sq. metres, will help Samsung meet the growing demand.

Moon will hold talks with Modi on Tuesday during his four-day visit, which India expects would open new avenues for expanding the bilateral partnership, particularly in the economic domain.
