As Trump slams North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, ambassador says Europeans are 'stepping up' on funding

NATO Braces For Trump, White House Says Business As Usual

With the established global order on shaky footing, President Donald Trump's weeklong trip to Europe will test already strained bonds with some of the United States' closest allies, then put him face to face with the leader of the country whose electoral interference was meant to help put him in office.

North Atlantic Treaty Organisation officials all the way up to Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg point to increased military investment by the U.S.in Europe since Trump took office as evidence of Washington's continuing commitment to the alliance. Since the 2016 campaign and before, Trump has repeatedly expressed a perplexing affection for Putin, despite the authoritarian leader's brutal hold on power in his country and his disregard for democratic values.

"Instead of viewing it that way, he views it as "The U.S. has been played"...and it's always this 'They're laughing at us, '" he added. "I don't know why, or why he would want to be."...

I wrote at the time, and still believe, that Trump was right to meet with Kim.

Serena Williams misses daughter's first steps while marching on at Wimbledon
The 27-year-old first complained to the umpire about the bugs and following her first set defeat had the court sprayed. She was seeded second in 2017 but succumbed amid high expectations and crashed out in the second round that time.

This personal animosity between the alliance's most important national leaders comes at an especially infelicitous time, with Vladimir Putin's Russian Federation applying pressure around Nato's periphery, using "hybrid warfare" techniques to destabilize the Baltic and Black Sea nations, and employing cyber operations to undermine democracy as far away as the US.

NATO, which was founded soon after World War II to counter the influence of the Soviet Union, officially suspended all cooperation with Russian Federation after Putin seized Crimea in 2014.

U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell Monday struck back at critics of President Donald Trump's upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, pointing out the president has been using "dual-track approaches" when dealing with other world leaders.

"The new strategy may call for more European military efforts", the former adviser to Senate Armed Services Chairman John McCain and Pentagon leaders said.

Wimbledon 2018: Jay Clarke and Cameron Norrie lose five-hour epic
Their defeats means that eight of the women's top 10 at this year's championships have already been knocked out. The American 10th seed was 5-2 ahead in the first set but collapsed to lose it and go 4-0 down in the second.

But, given a general wariness towards Russian Federation among American voters and Congressional lawmakers, Trump is unlikely to concede too much to Putin, said Michaels.

As many as 33% of those surveyed said they had positive expectations from the summit, while one percent said that, the outcome of the highly-talked about event would be negative for Russian Federation. But Trump's "obsession with it, the constant harping on it, and the exclusive focus on it - that's pretty new", said Goldgeier. On Putin's wish list: an end to US military exercises in Europe and the scaling back of USA forces there.

Trump's obsession with military costs would make sense if it were part of an attempt to reduce the USA defense budget.

Much of the rest of Trump's foreign policy is equally weird.
