Radamel Falcao scores, Colombia beat Poland 3-0

Roman was held in the Tacoma Northwest Detention Center some 120 miles away

A 2-1 defeat to Senegal in their Group H opener has left Poland in desperate need of their first three points of the tournament at Kazan Arena. Poland forward Dawid Kownacki will be favourite after impressing against Senegal as a second-half substitute.

That proved to be final piece of goal-mouth action in the second stanza as the Colombians register their first win, while Poland have been eliminated.

Falcao, Colombia's all-time leading scorer with 30 goals, made sure he would stay healthy for this year's World Cup by sitting out several matches with his Monaco club this season.

Football fans have brutally reminded Robert Lewandowski of a tweet he sent to his Bayern Munich team-mate James Rodriguez in December of past year about the upcoming World Cup.

Japan goalie gifts Senegal goal after committing embarrassing mistake
Japan have started the 2018 World Cup positively and could face England or Belgium if they progress to the knockout stages. Senegal has conceded just five goals in their last nine games, with four out of the five goals coming in the second half.

Colombia's opening goal in the 40th minute forced Poland to be more offensive, and it ended up providing more space for the free-flowing Latin Americans.

Colombia were playing some scintillating football on Sunday night.

It said: "Hola mi Hermano James Rodriguez, I remember your great goals during the last World Cup".

Radamel Falcao doubled Colombia's lead in the 70th minute, applying the clinical finish to a lovely team move.

England hat-trick hero Kane basks in World Cup rout
Four years ago, England failed to win a match at the World Cup and was eliminated in the group stage. They will now face Belgium on Thursday, with the victor of that game emerging as group winners.

The loss signalled the end of Poland's hopes of qualification for the last 16 after two losses from their opening two matches, while the Colombians enter the final round of group matches, against Senegal, with their fate in their own hands.

"We lost against a very strong team and this is what we have to accept", said Poland coach Adam Nawalka. "But I have to emphasise that I believe we will emerge victorious tomorrow".

Because, with Radamel Falcao working hard at the head of their side and the majestic James Rodriguez and Juan Quintero firing in tandem, this Colombia team could yet go a long way.

The way they opened up the Polish defence for the killer second goal was fantastic, Quintero accepting a low ball from the right side with the softest of touches before delivering a ideal pass for Falcao to slip beyond Wojciech Szczesny with the outside of his boot.
