Phillies Phanatic injures fan with flying hot dog

Phillies Fan Hurt After Being Shot in Face by Phillie Phanatic's Hot Dog Cannon

"And hard", she told the TV station.

Such was the case in the "City of Brotherly Love" Wednesday night, when the Phillies iconic mascot - the Phillie Fanatic - fired a hot dog launcher, directly at a fan's face.

The victim, a Phillies fan named Kathy McVay, was checked for a concussion and emerged with painful facial injuries.

Her spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, said she believes "we need to be a country that follows all laws", but also one "that governs with heart".

"The next thing I know, he shot it in our direction and 'bam.' It like, hit me like a ton of bricks". She wound up with a black eye and bruises around the eye and nose.

She was cleared, but sustained a small hematoma in her eye, an injury which needs to be iced every 20 minutes. "And mostly, it's going to get worse before it gets better. It's going to go down the side of my face", she told ABC 6.

McVay doesn't plan to take legal action against the Phillies and seems to be taking the injury with a good sense of humor.

Upskirting likely to become criminal offense in UK
Even then, it would only take one dissenting voice to again put a stop to its progress. The law would create a new criminal offence punishable by up to two years in prison .

After her ordeal, does she have some words of caution for her fellow baseball fans? "Because you never know".

McVay said she was unable to swat the hot dog away and left the game to go to the hospital. "If it gives people a good laugh and if that makes somebody chuckle, then that's fine".

The Phillies reached out to McVay directly on Tuesday to apologize. The team added that the Phanatic mascot feels "terrible" about it.
