Iran 'Stands Firm' Against Nuclear Deal Renegotiation, Says Foreign Minister

White House Claims 'Clerical Error' Led to Drastic Change in Iran Statement

United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has urged US President Donald Trump not to pull out from the global deal to prevent Iran acquiring nuclear weapons, saying there is a real risk of war if the 2015 agreement was not preserved. Those changes have included proposals to limit Iran's ballistic-missile program, which Tehran says it has as a defensive deterrent.

It is also meant to cut its stockpile of enriched uranium drastically and not enrich remaining uranium to the level needed to produce nuclear weapons.

"Even if USA allies, especially the Europeans, try to revise the deal., one of our options will be withdrawing from it", state television quoted Ali Akbar Velayati as saying.

Charlotte's Quail Hollow Club isn't hosting one of golf's major championships this year, as it did a year ago with the PGA. Tiger Woods , also teeing it up for the first time since the Masters , carded an even-par 71 that left him tied for 34th.

Zarif referenced US President Donald Trump's unhappiness with the deal, and said, "We will neither outsource our security, not will we renegotiate ... a deal we already have implemented in good faith". Trump has warned that the U.S. would withdraw completely on 12 May - the next deadline for waiving sanctions - unless European signatories to the deal and Congress renegotiate the deal.

"It now appears that. some Europeans have been offering more concessions from our pocket", Zarif said.

Additionally, he accused the USA of "consistently violating" the terms of the deal, and claimed they are forcing other countries to not do business with the Islamic Republic. "Bluster or threats won't get the USA a new deal, particularly as it is not honoring a deal it has already made".

In a statement , Fatah rejected the allegation, saying that "anti-Semitism is not in line with our movement's ethics and culture". Abbas's office later acknowledged that the reports on which his comments had been based had proved without foundation.

"On 11 occasions since, the United Nations nuclear watchdog has confirmed that Iran has implemented all of its obligations", Zarif, who studied in the USA, says in American-accented English.

Major European banks and businesses continue to shun the Islamic Republic for fear of falling foul of remaining U.S. sanctions, hampering Iran's efforts to rebuild foreign trade and lure much-needed foreign investment to its economy.
