Sacramento Police Officers Who Killed Stephon Clark Identified

Utah woman gets 50 years for role in killing two California cops

Several people, including one member of the clergy, would get the growing crowd moving again as the protesters eventually went to an area where there were several courthouses. The game was delayed but not canceled, and the Kings announced that no more fans would be admitted because law enforcement could not ensure that ticketed fans could safely enter the arena.

Hundreds of outraged demonstrators rallied Thursday to protest the shooting 22-year-old Stephon Clark, who was killed in his grandmother's backyard.

Stephon Clark, 22, was living with relatives in a south Sacramento house when the police responded to a 911 call about a man breaking vehicle windows and a glass door in the neighborhood.

Reichel said, the situation may have been defused if officers had ordered Clark to drop to the ground rather than show his hands, or if they had taken cover behind the wall of the house before immediately opening fire once they believed they saw a gun.

Police have said the officers who fired multiple shots at Clark believed he had a gun.

After a few minutes, speaking to the still body, an officer shouts, "Hey, can you hear us?"

Protesters marched from Sacramento City Hall onto a nearby motorway on Thursday, disrupting rush hour traffic and holding signs with messages including "Sac PD: Stop killing us!".

Police training expert Ed Obayashi told the newspaper: "It looks bad but (the officers) are still perceiving a threat, he's not obeying".

He "approached us hands out, and then fell down", said an officer.

Hahn said that he "didn't know what the protest would entail, about getting on I-5 and things like that, but that he "knew emotions were high". Clark does not respond and officers continue speaking to a still body.

Body camera footage shows officers checking yards and speaking with neighbors before a sheriffs helicopter spots Clark in the backyard. One yells "gun" before "five to seven" shots are fired, video shows.

He praised Mr Hahn for quickly releasing videos of the shooting and said the department has improved its policies since the fatal shooting of a mentally ill black man in 2016.

"Based on the videos alone, I can not second guess the split-second decisions of our officers and I'm not going to do that", Mayor Darrell Steinberg said in a statement. As part of the department's protocol, this incident is being investigated in conjunction with the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office, the Sacramento City Attorney's Office and the City's Office of Public Safety Accountability.

Clark was found with a cellphone and no weapons. Police said the man "turned and advanced toward the officers while holding an object" extended in front of him.

"He liked shoes", brother Stevante Clark told The Sacramento Bee.

Clinton Primm, a friend of Mr Clark, fears others are also at risk of being shot by police.

The people were excited on every single point", said Del Potro said. "I had a great run and a great week on and off the court". He is now ranked number six, a far cry from two years ago when he was ranked number 366 in the world.

After Clark's death, the NAACP released a statement saying that although it respected the role of police, shootings such as the latest one have angered, frustrated and frightened the community. He said he's "livid" with the police right now. The two officers have since been placed on paid administrative leave amid a use of force investigation.
