North's 'army of beauties' seduces as Koreans suffer hockey rout

6 health scares that affected the Olympics before Pyeongchang's norovirus outbreak

Vice President Mike Pence said Saturday evening there is "no daylight" between the US and South Korea, despite their different approaches to engagement with North Korea at the Pyeongchang Olympic Winter Games.

Kim Yo Jong, who is thought to be about 30 years old, entered the meeting with the president carrying a blue folder with the North Korean crest embossed in gold on the front, which she carefully laid on the table in front of her. Two players, one South Korean and the other North Korean, appeared on the opening ceremony and climbed stairs together with the Olympic torch that they handed to Olympic champion figure skater Yuna Kim.

When asked if his commitment to the denuclearization of North Korea is personal because his father served in the Korean War, Pence responded, "The whole global community is committed, with a few exceptions, to denuclearization of the Korean peninsula".

"I am open to any form of meeting, including a summit, if these are necessary to improve inter-Korean relations and resolve the North Korean nuclear issue", Moon told more than 200 reporters at the Blue House in January.

After meeting with Moon, the North Korean delegates boarded a bullet train to Gangneung, a coastal city hosting some Olympic events.

The game was a mismatch pretty much from the opening faceoff, though you would have never known it by the constant noise made by tightly choreographed North Korean cheerleaders and the much looser fans from the South.

Australia outgun England again to reach Twenty20 tri-series final
With legspinner Adam Zampa again overlooked, Stanlake (2-28), Kane Richardson (3-33) and Tye (1-29) did the damage. Tom Curran - 1/10 - The young seamer was only given two overs as Lynn and Short took him for 23 from his spell.

Minutes later came a moment stunning in its optics and its implications: the United States, represented by Vice President Mike Pence, sitting a row ahead of Kim's sister, Kim Yo Jong, and the North's nominal head of state, all watching the games begin - officials from two nations that many worry have been on the brink of nuclear conflict.

Turns out it wasn't a secret plan for the newly unified Korean women's hockey team to beat Switzerland.

Pence's office didn't directly address Kim's invitation to Moon.

According to Pence's office, there was "no interaction" between the USA vice president and the North Korean officials.

On his flight to Alaska on Saturday, the vice president said he left Asia "encouraged that we will continue to work very closely to continue and intensify the maximum pressure campaign" against North Korea.

"I don't feel like supporting those North Korea players, so I'll cheer for the other team now". Many in Seoul, however, while interested in the warming high-level contacts, are also tempering expectations for a real breakthrough.

One notable visual came with the appearance of the Russian delegation, which marched in unable to carry its flag because of doping-related sanctions by the International Olympic Committee.

But North Korea has a habit of not letting itself be ignored when it comes to its southern rival.

But Moon, a liberal who has always wanted to engage the North, will also have to convince a good portion of his own people who are deeply wary about North Korean intentions.

During the trip, Pence has kept up pressure on the north over its nuclear ambitions and human rights record. South Korea wants a northern neighbor without nukes; North Korea vows to keep its weapons until the United States discards its "hostile" policies against the country.
