No word from BC as feds overhaul pipeline rules

Patience wearing thin with Trans Mountain delays, president says

Politically, Notley needs the pipeline built to have any hope of re-election next year; B.C. Premier John Horgan campaigned on a promise to kill it off.

On Tuesday, Alberta's Premier Rachel Notley announced her province will immediately boycott all imports of wines from B.C.

"I think Premier Notley quite rightly points to the fact that this is really a dispute between British Columbia and Canada as much as it is a dispute between B.C. and Alberta". The opposition to this pipeline is deep, especially in the Lower Mainland and on Vancouver Island, just as it would be in Alberta if this same thing was being attempted by the federal government.

Karen Collins, the owner of Asti Trattoria Italiana, dropped B.C. wines from her downtown restaurant on February 1, six days before Notley's announcement.

At least one restaurant in Alberta has vowed to continue serving B.C. wine.

Anderson said he sent a letter this week to Horgan about his concerns for the province's plans and its implications for the $7.4-billion Trans Mountain project that would nearly triple the capacity of the pipeline.

"I believe that is well within our jurisdiction, we have legal support for that review".

He added that he had no intention of retaliatory action against Alberta and dispelled the rumours about a possible ban on beef.

Jeffrey Monroe , 54, of Avon, Indiana, was the ride-share driver who also was killed in the crash around 4 a.m. Sunday. "This is just one of many such preventable tragedies". "The family is in shock, as you can imagine".

"I think we're a nation and we try to support everything as micro as we can but at the same time we are part of the same country and I think we should be working together rather than splitting difference", Natalie said.

"We have many, many customers in Alberta.if she does ban direct sales that stops all my wine club members from receiving their wine - that's a fair bit of cash for me right there", Craig said, adding that he ships a few hundred cases to the province annually and has ties to the Prairies.

Horgan called Notley's actions "provocative" while his were not.

The project is strongly opposed by the British Columbia government. I have had discussions with the prime minister.

Last year, the influential Wine Enthusiast magazine rated B.C.'s Okanagan Valley as one of the top wine-tourism destinations in the world, in a league with Tuscany and the south of France. "These are small craft outfits and every sale helps and makes a difference to them".

It will be interesting as the ban goes on for longer, said Hynes-Dawson.

But not everyone is on Alberta's side in the dispute.

The real estate value of wineries and vineyards has more than doubled in B.C.in the past half dozen years.

He pleaded guilty in 1990 to six felonies and agreed to pay $600 million in penalties to settle a massive Wall Street fraud case. Bush said on Thursday that the usa needs to "welcome" immigrants and thank them for doing the "jobs that Americans won't do".

"The damage is done instantly, no matter what", he says.

"We're continuing to discuss and engage with the B.C. government, with the Alberta government", the prime minister said Wednesday before his weekly caucus meeting.

Red Deer Chamber of Commerce CEO Robin Bobocel likes an occasional glass of B.C. wine, but will happily forgo having any until the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline is twinned. "Albertans didn't want or invite this fight".

"The small independent wine makers, family-run businesses; this is their only livelihood".

I think if they'd had a more inclusive process, a process where there was more flexibility, things could have been different.

In Victoria, Horgan said while he and Notley may both be New Democrats, that is a secondary consideration.

For McMillan, however, the impact of the conflict reaches further than just Alberta.
