Protesters call on Twitter to ban Trump

They are also planning a protest for Wednesday night. In a short statement posted to their blog, Twitter have explained why that is.

"Blocking a world leader from Twitter or removing their controversial Tweets, would hide important information people should be able to see and debate", the company wrote in Friday's post.

The protests come in response to Trump's tweet regarding a nuclear button that is "bigger and more powerful" than the North Korean leader's. The tweet reignited the debate over whether or not Twitter should suspend or otherwise take action against President Trump's personal Twitter account.

The comments prompted complaints that Twitter was providing Mr Trump with a "bully pulpit" and the president contravened its terms and conditions that addressed violence and threats.

The device was first mentioned back in August past year and it is said to come with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. While the rear camera will be identical to the XA2, the XA2 Ultra will sport 15MP dual-selfie cameras on the front.

The Verge reports that left-wing activists have focused on Jack Dorsey, accusing the Twitter CEO of being complicit in President Donald Trump's actions by giving him a platform to tweet and spread his message.

For more than a year, Twitter has faced censure for allowing President Donald Trump to use its service to say whatever he wants. Instead, it is credited to "Twitter, Inc".

Because of these occasional forays into digital lunacy, folks have often petitioned the service to remove Trump from its list of users, often messaging CEO Jack Dorsey directly. Jack Dorsey brought 280 characters to Twitter, but what Twitter needs is a CEO with more character.

Senators Martin Heinrich and Ron Wyden asked the Director of National Intelligence, Daniel Coats, to "assess the risk to the United States and to U.S. interests and personnel" arising from a tweet Trump posted on January 2. "A mixture of fact checking, disagreement, agreement, and some random things".

U.S. envoy calls for emergency United Nations session on Iran
The offer was quickly disavowed by the White House, which ruled out a dialogue with Pyongyang until it "fundamentally improves its behaviour".

It's also not clear if there is an instance in which Twitter would remove a world leader's messages or account.

Twitter said Friday that it will not block world leaders or any of their "controversial Tweets" in the interest of advancing "the global, public conversation".

But Twitter reiterated its stance, saying: "Elected world leaders play a critical role in that conversation due to their outsized impact on our society".

But Twitter stressed the importance of its role in enabling free and open discussion. But even with Twitter's latest clarifications, questions remain about how it defines and reviews political figures. No one person's account drives Twitter's growth, or influences these decisions.
